From our centers in suburban Cleveland and suburban Chicago, we create systems and apps that accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency and clean technologies in commercial and industrial buildings. The energy retrofit boom you’ve heard so much about? It’s real, and the technology that supports it originates right here. Our customers include energy retrofit companies, professional engineering firms, energy service companies, clean power entities, public utilities and electronics distributors. They all share the same objective of reducing energy usage in commercial facilities. And our software speeds that adoption like none other.
Which brings us to you. In the midst of our explosive growth, we’re looking for software development professionals to help grow our product and its effectiveness within our customer base across the United States. You’ll be part of a team to make our products more rock-solid and robust to help our clients excel in a booming industry. You will use your development skills and past knowledge to add a new dimension to a growing product set.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Within 2 weeks, work into a team sprint; design program, integrate, QA test and debug assigned software component into the SnapCount Platform
- Learn our development stack (html/javascript/css, java/groovy, mySQL, Apache-Tomcat, …) and how SnapCount is designed. Target 30 days
- Collaborate with fellow software team members to brain-storm optimal designs, innovate them into the code base and deliver high quality applications
- Using a high level specification and collaboration with the Customer Service team, create a detailed plan to enhance existing functionality and create new modules. Target 60 days
- Effectively estimate project work and time requirements
- Document what you develop, both for developers as well as for QA
- Sometimes our software doesn’t do what we intended, you will need to dig into the details to find out why and create a plan to get it fixed. Target 60 Days
- As a fast moving software company, we have an aggressive road-map of features and functions. You will need to consider the future as you build today’s functions to ensure the system is ready for these updates.

What will it take to join our team?
Realistically, we need someone with a college degree. Most import is a hands-on understanding of building production grade applications for real users. Prior experience with our specific development environment (Java, MySQL and Javascript) would be very helpful, but not required as long as you are a quick study of new tools. You’ll be working with people, both internal and customers, so your ability to understand the problem at hand, envision the end result and create a solution to fill the need is critical.
